What are the Sustainable Development Goals?
Sustainable development is a concept that emerged at the end of the last century as an alternative to ensure the durability of resources and the well-being of the planet. As the human population increases, it is clear that maintaining the current pace of development without containment measures can endanger natural resources and people's quality of life, so it is necessary to seek a balance between economic well-being and sustainability.

This concept became part of the United Nations agenda and finally materialized in September 2015 with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development , an action plan that sets out 17 sustainable development goals. These goals seek to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all its inhabitants. In turn, each goal is divided into specific targets to be achieved in the coming years.

Although this is a global initiative, the responsibility for achieving these goals lies with each and every one of us. Everyone has to do their part: governments in different countries, civil society, individuals and, of course, businesses .

As the driving force of economic development, companies must be very aware of their responsibility to promote sustainable development . Every decision we make has an impact on our environment, both immediately (on employees and their families) and on society in general. If we want to be a happy company, we cannot grow at any price.

To move in the right direction, we suggest reviewing the 17 sustainable development goals in the following section and thinking about how we can apply them to our particular case and as a company . Ideally, these types of decisions should not be made "top down", but rather be the result of collective reflection by team members. Together, we can do our part to create sustainable companies and fairer societies.
