Column – Okay, so it’s possible. Someone who wants to promote Nazi memorabilia or recruit candidates for a far-right demonstration can buy access to the newsfeeds of people who regularly use word combinations on Facebook. These are combinations such as ‘ Jew hater ’, ‘ How to burn jews ’ or ‘ Why jews ruin the world ’, ‘ a Holocaust happened ?’.


ProPublica describes how easy it was. Editors paid thirty dollars to access these groups. It took fifteen country email list minutes for Facebook to give permission. The editors told Facebook , and then the anti-Semitic categories were removed. Apparently, these categories were created automatically by an algorithm, not by humans.

Sorry, we can't help it. There are people on Facebook who publish anti-Semitic texts and these texts are picked up by our algorithms. The ' we're just a platform ' logic.
