Moshe Edri appointed chairman of the Atomic Energy Committee

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett decided today (Wednesday), December 29, 2021, 25th of Tevet 5872, to appoint Brigadier General (res.) Moshe Edri to the position of Chairman of the Atomic Energy Committee.
Edri (59), who holds a bachelor's degree in Middle Eastern and African studies from the University of Haifa and a master's degree in public policy from Bar Ilan University, currently serves as the head of special measures (AMM) and as the head of defense at the Ministry of Defense.
As part of his role as the head of defense, in recent months he remove background image has been coordinating and leading the handling of the coronavirus pandemic at the national level, and integrating the activities of all professional entities in various aspects, including concentrating efforts and operational processes in the outlines of economic activity, budget issues, procurement, implementation of political echelon guidelines, and more.
Throughout his 31 years of service in the IDF, Brigadier General (res.) Edri served in a number of senior positions, including Commander of the 669th Air Force Combat Rescue and Evacuation Unit, Commander of the Air Force Special Forces (Units 669 and the Special Forces), Air Force Base Commander, and Head of the Special Means Brigade in the General Staff.
Upon his discharge from the IDF in 2011 with the rank of Brigadier General, he served for about three and a half years as head of the Atomic Energy Committee, and since 2015 he has held his current position at the Ministry of Defense.
In light of his many years of experience, his performance, and his in-depth understanding of the security and regional challenges facing the State of Israel, Prime Minister Bennett decided to appoint him to the position of Chairman of the Atomic Energy Committee.
The appointment will take effect in July 2022, after completion of an overlapping process, approval by the Appointments Committee at the State Service Commission, and approval by the government.
Brigadier General (res.) Edri will replace the current chairman of the committee, Zeev Snir, who has served in the position since 2015 and will end his term this June.
