What are the different types of fonts?
Let's start with a short definition. A font or typeface is a set of graphic signs of characters that constitute the same family . The same family has several sizes (body) and weights (thicknesses) and share the same coherent style in order to form a homogeneous whole. We can divide the types of fonts into 4 main categories :
Fonts with Serif;
Sans Serif fonts;
Script fonts;
Decorative fonts.
Opt for a font with Serif
Example of fonts with Serif: Times New Roman, Georgia, Courier
Serif fonts feature serifs (or flourishes). This type of font is used in print media or books because serifs help readers follow the line of text, making it easier to read.
On a website, it is more advisable to use them as additional content elements like titles, quotes, etc. For longer texts, this type of font can make the content more difficult to read.
Serif fonts give a touch of tradition, elegance, seriousness, “old school”.
