.EU Domain: The Benefits
The .EU domain extension is managed by EURid ( European Registry for Internet Domains ), a non-profit organization based in Brussels, Belgium. The European Commission has assigned EURid the management of the .EU domain since 2003, with the aim of promoting a European digital identity.
According to the latest data provided by EURid (relating to the first quarter of 2024), the .EU domain has reached 3.68 million registrations, placing it in ninth place globally among the most purchased county TLDs ( top level domains ).
In the pan-European scenario, Germany leads the ranking of countries with the highest number of registrations.
Followed by the Netherlands and France, just below the podium we find Italy with just over 270,000 .EU domains.
The growing popularity among citizens, professionals and businesses is the result of multiple factors.
