How we make teleworking video calls at efficy

Post by chandon »

We have tried many tools (zoom, skype, whereby) and finally we stayed with Microsoft Teams because of the audio/video quality and because it has many features to configure it to your liking.

As time has passed, it has become easier and more natural to make video calls.

So, in case it helps you, here is our experience:

1) Everyone turn on the camera

It's very basic, haha, but the truth is that there are people who don't do it, and there's a world of difference if the video call is face to face. The solution: you just have to ask for it. Here's a screenshot of our video bulk sms philippines call yesterday with the marketing team: Charly on the left, Mae below and me on the right.

2) Hide my video in my view

Teams has the ability to hide yourself and pin other people's screens.

For me that's key, because if I'm not constantly looking at my hair haha

By hiding my video in my view I'm much more present in the conversation.

Of course, be careful because the first few times you forget that the rest of the people are still watching you. I swear that this has almost happened to me a few times haha:

3) Focus on the meeting / Gallery

Since the rest of the people can't see your screen, it's very tempting to start reading or writing other things. It still happens to me :S

What works best for me is to put the view in "gallery". This way, seeing everyone in a larger format gives me more of a "face-to-face meeting" feeling. It's also more real since you can see the reactions of the rest of the people, and not just the one who's talking, and since you're looking straight in, it feels like you're looking into each other's eyes.
