Interests
Pinterest users are explorers. By browsing interesting accounts and boards and by searching (both textual and visual) they find interesting products, beautiful vacation destinations and more things to have and do . Based on this behavior, Pinterest divides its users into interest categories , such as food & drink, gardening, DIY , photography, travel and weddings.

Keywords
Pinterest's search function is widely used to discover new things. It is therefore an effective way of targeting to bring your Promoted Pin to the attention of the right audience. Around 20 to 30 keywords per pin is the ideal number to achieve good results.

In addition to keywords and interests, you can (further) segment your target group based on location,c level executive list gender, language and devices such as desktop, iOS mobile/tablet and Android mobile/tablet. At the moment, the locations to be selected are large regions and cannot be targeted at a micro level (such as place of residence). Something we recognize from the regions that LinkedIn uses, based on American standards and very inconvenient for smaller countries.

Own target groups
Since last year, Pinterest has added some interesting targeting options :

Website Retargeting : By placing a Pinterest pixel on your website, you can target people who have previously visited your website. This group can also be excluded from advertising campaigns.
